Taking the Goats to the Barn for Milking

May 7, 2015

Just a quick post tonight to put up short video of the nightly running of the goats to the barn for milking.

I was hoping for a little more of the kids kicking up their heels, but there was a little of that.

You may notice, there's a sheep in the mix.  That is Asher's 4-H project, which I'm hoping he'll soon be writing a blog post about.

Now that the nights are running warmer on a regular basis, the ladies and kids are out in the pen every day.  Still putting the kids in the barn for the night, as it can get chill, but Bella, Clover and Ulmia (Asher's sheep) spend the night outside.

You can see the old deer blind that we converted to a shelter for them, so they're not in the rain (or heaven forbid, snow).  Not that there's much chance of snow tonight.  We set records today.  It got all the way up to 89° here today, too warm for this time of the year actually.

You get to see a bit of most of our livestock in this video. All the goats, kids and sheep, a loose chicken, as well as a few inside the electronet. And our livestock guardian dog, Altana.
